new contributor!

The person responsible for my absence two weeks ago (i was flying to visit her, after all) is now a contributor at eh4r! Little sis brinna_rose has yet to come up with a new Lost-sounding nickname, but i am forever your...

"Every Man for Himself" synopsis

"Sawyer discovers just how far his captors will go to thwart any plans of escape he and Kate might have, and Jack is called upon to scrub up in order to save the life of one of the Others. Meanwhile, Desmond’s behavior begins to perplex the survivors when he starts construction on an unknown device."

i know, i've been quiet. See, two eps ago i didn't get to watch again and write a review (though i do have it on video). Last ep i stayed at work during my "lunch" to watch the ep but missed parts due to conversations and the soda machine making so much noise that i couldn't really hear and then it turned out that my VCR didn't record it. i've borrowed a copy of the Locke epi but haven't had time to watch any of it yet. i have been soooo busy with school and work. Don't get me wrong, the semester is going reasonably well and i love my new job, but i really don't have a surplus of free time. i have something that demands my time seven days a week.

But i am super excited about tonight's episode. In fact, i am probably more excited about tonight than i was to see the season premier. Crazy, huh? But then, i am a really big Skater. i think that it's finally here!

The Glass Ballerina text session

Southern Mama: It wasn't zeke who got it last night...

Muchacha de Hurley: Yeah that was weird i was sure that was him in the preview maybe its coming up later in the season.

Southern Mama: I still think Jin is the daddy.

Muchacha de Hurley: i am mad at Sun

Muchacha de Hurley: Anyways, i'm pretty sure that it was Tom in the preview but maybe i should go back and check.

Muchacha de Hurley: Re: i still think jin is the Daddy... i don't know but it seems like she should have known sooner if it isn't i mean u would think her first tip off would have been no .

Southern Mama: If they were getting it on at all she would know...you can feel the uterus by then. Who knows how long before they felw, they had the affair...

Muchacha de Hurley: We must also remember that the show's writers r male

Southern Mama: I was just about to say, it's tv, they don't care that much about accuracy or don't even know.

Southern Mama: She would be farther along if it wasn't jin's though i think.

Muchacha de Hurley: Yeah, i think she would be showing if from affair, possibly know before the plane crash. Wonder if she would have left jin, if other guy really killed self, what they (Sun and Jin) did on honeymoon...?

Southern Mama: Some people think he got pushed by someone checking up on Jin who was another of sun's dad's employees... Do you think the guy was stealing something other than sun?

Muchacha de Hurley: That was also my thought: but i also wonder if the honeymoon was a reward for good job. i also think was only about sun.

Southern Mama: Do you think the guy knew he was sun's husband?

Muchacha de Hurley: Definitely. That's part of the reason that i think it might have actually been suicide.

Southern Mama: But do you think Jin knew then?

Muchacha de Hurley: No, he was confused by the response. i think he still believes Sun's lie.

Southern Mama: I think he thought the guy thought he was just a messenger.

Muchacha de Hurley: Well yeah, inside, but when he fell on Jin's hood?

Southern Mama: I thought that was coincidence.

Muchacha de Hurley: Coincidence that he landed on Jin's hood u mean?

Southern Mama: Why would the guy beg for his life then jump out a window?

Muchacha de Hurley: Stinks that Ben is watching (Kate, Sawyer, and Jack). ):

Muchacha de Hurley: Good point but i was thinking that he may have decided he didn't want 2 live w/o sun the irony being that when he could have had her he didn't want her. Also ironic that Sun seems 2 always have feared father and he was dad's 1st pick.

Dharma Defunct?

The other day i had "Downtown" stuck in my head so i started thinking about Dharma. i've come to a couple of conclusions: Dharama obviously can't be entirely defunct for a couple of reasons. 1 - the inhabitants of the Island still receive food shipments. 2 - the inhabitants of the Island are still in communication with the outside world, otherwise Juliet would not be able to have a file on Jack. And who really thinks that the Others only have a file on Jack? i'm sure they have a file on every passenger who was on the flight. i bet they had the information right away and it's how they chose which Tailies to take. Furthermore, the Island obviously can't be a snowglobe if planes are making drops and the Pala Ferry obviously has to take recruits/team members somewhere (possible a place known as "Rescue").

The thing that i've always wondered about is the (Swan) hatch: if it was so all important for this button to be pushed 13.3 times every single day then why did they never rotate the staff as indicated in the Orientation film? Would they really put/keep people in place that they don't know they can trust if this button has to be pushed? If they're watching the hatch via camera (we know they were at the Pearl, i'm sure they could have been elsewhere, even so, why did they abandon the Pearl?) then they're going to know when people are commiting suicide and when untested individuals are becoming replacements. This entire system is suspect. There are a lot of unanswered questions here that don't entirely make sense.

"A Tale of Two Cities" (finally!)

i had originally read that this was going to be a Kate episode, so i was a bit surprised to see Juliet at the beginning. i've been avoiding spoilers for about a month now and had heard that they were going to show the plane breaking up from the outside, but i admit that i fell for it: i didn't realize at first that the teaser was happening is on the Island. Fake Henry's real name is worked into conversation... but you don't realize who they're talking about. The lives of the others seem so normal... the way they're dressed, their housing development, yet they lived an hour's run away from the Tailies (in the Crater, perhaps?). Seeing the plane break apart was awesome, as is the incrimental pull back.

And then we find out it's a Jack episode. The flashback premise is sound enough but i really wasn't hankering for a Jack episode. Still, Christian Shephard's character development in particular is very interesting.

Observations:
- Stephen King is the author of the book club's read but you don't get to see which book.

- Jack's cell is remarkabe mixture of Captain Pike's in Star Trek's original pilot "The Cage" and the aquarium in Star Trek IV.

- Kate isn't Tom's type. ROFL

- Jack and Kate have both had blood drawn while Sawyer apparently has not.

- What's the new symbol look like? It's too far away to see. I couldn't tell at first what the symbol was on, but now i think it is a pipe.

- Where did the teenager (Karl) come from?

- My immediate impression of Sawyer's cell is a rat maze and psychological testing. Can the rat learn not to push the button because it's going to get zapped? Can the rat figure out how to get food? Can a bear understand the word "Warning" or the symbol for a restaurant? "S of a B" was such a Sawyer thing to say.

- Not that i'm on Jack's side, but what exactly did he do to push Sarah away? They haven't shown him trying to fix her. Was his staying at work all night a normal occurence? i guess he's just distant? The funny thing is that some people seem to think that Jack is trying to fix Kate while i feel that he has ignored her instead. He has periods in which he tries to control her and periods in which he treats her like dirt. i'm definitely a "What did you do with Sawyer and Jack?" kind of girl.

- Kate's dress is awesome. But why is Kate scared of Fake Henry? Why does she have to put on handcuffs? Why did they burn Kate's clothes? You have to wonder about why the next two weeks are going to be unpleasant (i was expecting it, but i'm still wondering).

- i didn't catch it at first, but Jack called his father with a number from Sarah's phone. First off, how'd he get the numbers off her phone? Second off, wouldn't he have names with the phone numbers he lifted off her phone (if he stole her contact list; even if he didn't, if he stole her recently dialed numbers, Christian would be in her contact list and the name would be there with it, at least on my phone).

- Does the intercom really work? i know there is often the appearance of things being broken down in Hatches, etc., but how often are these things really broken down? Is Dharma still alive and kicking or is it now defunct? And i guess i should have asked this at the end of last season instead of when i saw LTDA a couple of weeks ago, but Kelvin said that he had been recruited: how did he get to the Island? Pala Ferry? Or did he actually crash/become shipwrecked/etc. while on a CIA mission and was recruited by Radzinsky?

- Why did Jack say he was a repo man (of all things)???

- Does Sawyer think that the boy is an "Other"? He sure picked that lock quick. i don't think that i'd trust him to tell me which way to run, that's for sure. And come on, Sawyer, do you still expect them all to be dressed in rags?!?

- They apparently knocked Karl around, but was it a genuine escape attempt?

- So, those drugs cause hallucinations. So they put the guy who was just shot a couple of weeks ago in a cage without food or water and offer to feed the healthy people... Figures, seeing how Jack is the one who had Fake Henry in a cage and Kate was captured and released before... though i must admit that Sawyer has a score to settle with Tom.

- Is the woman at Christian's A.A. meeting the same leader as in Locke's support group?

- Can we trust Juliet? She says that this place is underwater, but i think its more likely that the pipe by Sawyer's cage provides the water at this point (i was all set for a submarine or underwater compound, too). She seems to be on the outs with Ben, but is she merely an innocent-looking interrogator? i mean do we really believe that she hadn't read Jack's file before she started talking to him? That she can deck Jack with one punch? At this point i think that she's on the outs with Ben but is a trained interrogator, possibly able to be turned, but manipulating Jack. Because this Hatch (for lack of a better term) is right off a beach it is a possibility that the portion Jack is in is underwater, but because Henry keeps popping in and out i would say that it is relatively easy to escape from. i think that they let Jack and Sawyer escape so they'd find out right away that it is hopeless (at least, that's what they want them to think).

- So the Escapee Alarm goes off when Sawyer reaches for the rock?

- "Reward...Reward..." Some reward that is. Fish based... what in the heck is it? Looks like Dharma Cat Food. i can't believe that Sawyer tried so hard to figure out how to get food. Is it all you can eat?

- i know they dragged Karl off after he tried to escape, but where is he now?

- Why are Kate's wrists bloody? And why didn't Kate eat breakfast with Fake Henry?

- If Sawyer's in a bear cage, what kind of cage is Kate in?

- Jack's at the Shark & Dolphin Tattoo Parlor, isn't he?

- So re: "Tale of Two Cities" i guess that Jack, in prison, decides to give up on the woman he loves so she can be happy with another man? How does Juliet knpw Sarah's happy, has she asked her?

- Re: the trailer... Kate asks for Jack. Sawyer gets to kick Tom's butt. Kate and Sawyer kiss (awesome). Sun gets shot (poor girl, hope the baby's okay, but i really don't think they're killing her off).
